Insight Admissions
If you are serious about your faith, have an inquiring mind, and have a heart for those from other cultures who don’t have an opportunity to learn about Jesus, we encourage you to apply to Insight. Admission is rolling; however, students should apply early to reserve a place in the class. Preference will be given to students who have an interest in missions or an international career.
Applications
Each location will have its own application, so contact the site that you are interested in to start their application process. Class size is limited to about 15 students at each location, so if a location is full your application can be passed on to a 2nd choice location.
Requirements
Insight is an intense academic program. Applicants must possess a high proficiency in reading and college level writing ability. Applicants must take the SAT or ACT and report scores on the application form. We do not have a set GPA or ACT/SAT minimum because we believe that a student’s suitability for the program rests on more than standardized test scores. Most locations will also require an interview either in person or on the phone.
Students desiring to take Insight to complete High School Requirements and gain college credit will be asked to document Senior status, have a 2.7 GPA and a ACT score of 20 or SAT score of 930.
Credit vs. Certificate
Students must choose to either take Insight for college credit or for a certificate of Bible and Mission from the Institute of International Studies. Whether studying for credit or for a certificate, students go through the same application process and are expected to participate in the program with the same level of effort and commitment.
Credit Students
Up to 36 units of transferable college credit are available for taking the Insight program. Students choosing to take Insight for credit will receive an official college transcript showing credit earned from Trinity International University. TIU is regionally accredited. There is no additional application needed for enrolling in the Partner College.
Certificate Students
Students desiring to take Insight for knowledge and personal enrichment, who are not interested in earning college credit, may earn a certificate instead. Program requirements are the same as for credit students with two exceptions: (1) Instead of writing exams, certificate students write 5-page reflection essays, and (2) Certificate students do not have to write term papers. Students in good standing will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the program, which may fulfill mission agencies’ Bible/Missions education requirements.
