Insight Pasadena

The Insight program was developed in Pasadena in 2001 on the campus of the U.S. Center for World Mission. In Pasadena, you’ll have daily opportunity to interact with former missionaries, mission leaders, and cross-cultural workers coming straight from the field with new information and experience to share.  If you want to study in a world-class mission-oriented atmosphere, Insight Pasadena is for you.

The L.A. area is home to a rich diversity of peoples and presents many exciting fieldtrip opportunities. We visit Muslim Mosques, Buddhist and Hindu temples, Jewish Synagogues, and cultural festivals throughout the year. Students also participate in a practicum where they will be challenged to interact with people of different worldviews and religious backgrounds.

Housing

Students live on campus in the Aylward Dormitory in a suite with other Insight students. The Dorm has several study lounges, TV rooms, a rec room, and community kitchens. Room and Board also includes a meal plan at the campus cafeteria.

Spiritual Life

Insight is primarily an academic program. However, our program also includes retreats, personal mentors, and weekly small groups in order to foster spiritual growth. In small groups, students have accountability and the opportunity to address heart issues of life, relationships, and calling. Students also attend the U.S. Center for World Mission’s “Morning Meetings” where they share bible reflections. There are several churches with in walking distance of campus.

Social Life

Insight coordinates field trips and informs students about upcoming events in Pasadena and L.A. Students can visit the beach, “Old Town” Pasadena, and attend free concerts, lectures, and cultural movie nights. Students are often invited to homes of the missionary community and included in the larger community life of the U.S. Center. On campus, there are tennis and basketball courts, a Frisbee golf course, a soccer field, and a rec room. There are no organized teams; however, “pick-up” games are common. The Eaton Canyon Nature Center and Rose Bowl are just a couple miles from campus, and are great places for hiking, walking, and biking.

Pasadena and the Los Angeles Metro Area

Pasadena is located on the NE side of Los Angeles, at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains. Pasadena is a friendly, diverse community that offers many things to do, including museums, concerts, theater, libraries, shopping, cultural events, and more. Burbank (BUR) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) are the closest airports.

Cost for the Year:

Credit students: $4950
Certificate students: $2700
Room and Board is an additional fee; contact the Insight Pasadena office for updated fees. Students are also required to purchase textbooks on top of the curriculum books that are provided.
