The Insight Advantage

Insight Testimonials

“I walked into the INSIGHT program last fall, assuming I would be taught how to “defend my Christian beliefs.” I was very wrong!  Rather than telling me what to think, INSIGHT challenged me to face scary questions and to intelligently weigh everything I believe. INSIGHT has given me a thoughtfully dynamic worldview so that I am not afraid to ask difficult questions in pursuit of Truth.

INSIGHT also transformed my understanding of the Bible by showing there is no dichotomy between the ‘Old’ and ‘New’ testaments. Like History, the Bible is a single story of God's work in the world through his covenant with Abraham, and the Promise of ‘the Seed.’ I'll never forget our shock the afternoon Dave Datema told us to rip out two pages in our Bibles: the title pages for ‘Old Testament’ and ‘New Testament!’

I came to INSIGHT having no idea what I wanted for my life. I'm leaving still without a clear picture of what the future holds. But I do know very, very clearly what I want for my life. I want to devote my life to intentionally advancing the Kingdom. Wherever I go, whoever I become, the Kingdom of God is the theme and the story I want to live.” Joy Magee, Insight Class of ‘07

“When our class started INSIGHT almost a year ago, we all expected to get straightforward information. Now reflecting back over the course, perhaps the only obvious thing we learned is that we would not be getting straightforward information. Instead, we were given the opportunity to evaluate and discuss literally mountains of information and come to conclusions on our own.” Andrew Spangler, Insight Class of ‘07

“I used to see history in broken segments. Now I see history as one glorious, single drama of God’s work in the world. Everything becomes more meaningful.” Joy Magee, Insight Class of ‘07

“[Insight] has made me a better critical thinker and has challenged me to look for new and innovative ways to spread the gospel and grow in my own personal relationship with Jesus.” Chelsea Long, Insight Class of ‘07

"I can't pick up a newspaper without questioning the history that has led to that event and the worldview of the person writing it." - Bethany Wearden, Film major, Biola University, Insight Class of '05

"The Insight program invites students into thoughtful, well-informed reflection about what God has done, is doing, and will do in the nations of our world. It gave me a background for future study that was holistic and kingdom-oriented, uniquely supplementing my education with an approach that few of my peers had (and some expressed a wish that they could have had!)." Rachel Dorr, Anthropology Major, Wheaton College, Insight Class of '03

"It used to be that when my worldview was challenged, I wouldn't know how to respond. Insight helped me establish confidence; it provided that backbone of history and theology that allows me to share the Gospel without fear of ignorance at a secular university." - Nathan Sigworth, Economics Major, Dartmouth, Class of '02

"Through Insight, I learned how to be intellectually honest while living out a genuine faith in Christ. Insight is more like a small community than a class because the students and faculty really care about learning and impacting people - it helped guide me in choosing the most strategic degree for my future." - Lance Hendrix, Middle Eastern Studies, UC Berkely, Insight Class of '03

"I can say that out of all the experiences in my life, Insight has definitely been the most influential. It opened my eyes to the world and gave me a deep desire to go to the nations, which I did not have before I came to Insight." - Emily Schmelzle, Insight Class of '05
